Metatarsalgia

Metatarsalgia is a generic term used to describe a painful foot condition in the metatarsal area of the foot.

Cause

Caused by one or more metatarsal joints that receive excessive pressure frequently. This pressure can be caused by tight restrictive shoes, shoes with high heel shape, hi-impact activities, sporting activities that require being on the balls of your feet. People with hi-arches are at a higher risk.

Treatment and Prevention

Use casual or athletic shoes for daily wear. Orthotics with metatarsal pads or metatarsal pads alone help most people very well. If the problem persists consult your foot doctor.
